Technology like the mobile phones, the computers, and television (which the prophet Jeremiah called ‘windows’ in Jeremiah 9:21) had indeed admitted the spirit of death into so many lives, especially the lives of our youths.”

INTRODUCTION

“Why must the church engage in PURPOSEFUL AND INTENSIVE intercessory prayers in these end times called the ‘beginning of sorrows?’ Because God has called us into it and this may well be the final call to prayers to evict the enemy …just before the great tribulation.”

“If we are the true church we will have the apostolic distinctive of knowing that the end or the DAY OF THE LORD is near. All universal shakings and meltdowns now are just birth pangs of the coming kingdom of our Lord. There are calamities, upheavals, crises, and great stirrings on earth now because there is war in heaven!”

“More and more we can feel it as these present evil days…”

“It is sad that many Christians are still in denial”

“” The prophets of old saw visions of these dark and foreboding ‘tribulation’ days…” (Ezekiel 21:7; Zechariah 13:8-9)

CHAPTER 1 -have we missed the vital signs of the Messiah’s second coming?

“Learned high priests like Caiphas and Annas could stand in front of the Messiah and not discern that He is the One.” “Many who are made to rule in God’s house do not know the Lord nor understand His word.”

“All the vital signs of Christ’s second coming (in heaven and on earth) are pronounced today and yet we carry on as usual; not wanting to make preparations for these coming evil and devastating days that we may be ‘counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:36)”

Jesus Christ warned us that the day of destruction will come to us like the days of Noah…when people carry on as usual.” “Their time was never deliberately prioritized for God.”

“also days when Nimrod arose in defiance against God to form his ‘one world government’ and to build his high towers and monuments.”

“also be like the days of Lot” “when fire literally fell out of heaven suddenly!” “Iran and Israel also have nuclear bombs pointed at each other and should one go off, the entire world will be affected.”

CHAPTER 2 –The end has begun and the beginning of the end, (‘the beginning of sorrows’) is already here

“Today, we too, have talked much about the end times but unfortunately we have also failed to discern that the time is now -it has now come upon us! The next change will be terrible, for almost without warning, the ‘tribulation’ days will come upon us.”

“Why couldn’t they discern? Because their hearts were not right. Ambitions and ego-centrality have often robbed men of spiritual discernment. These ambitious men seem to have enough spiritual light to prophesy and sit in their position as the nation’s spiritual leaders (John 11:49-53), but they definitely did not have enough light to carry themselves through to salvation!” “Caiphas prophesied accurately that Jesus is the Saviour but he himself remained unsaved!”

“There are many modern Caiphases and Annales today” “They have enough light to teach others and to prophesy but they do not have enough light to acknowledge their own sin so that they can be saved.”

“The light that comes from one’s scholarship, study, degrees, etc., must be tempered with the light that comes from our prayers, revelation knowledge and personal experiences with God which must result in self-denial, humility, and servanthood.”

CHAPTER 3 -Intensified prayers from the remnant will evict the enemy out of the heaven

“Since Israel as a nation, did not want to keep their distinction as God’s people…the prophet Daniel and his three undefiled friends did it for them.”

“May God, in His mercy, in these troublesome and turbulent days of much spiritual upheaval and natural disasters, also raise up a ‘Daniel-like’ group of people who will remain distinct and whose spirit and intercessory travail will be of the same pattern, in order to reach out to God.”

“Deborah proclaimed that when there were leaders (leading by examples) then the people would willingly offer themselves (Judges 5:2). She was commissioned and she was willing so she just got in there and led by example! And people were willing to follow her. Do you want prayer groups set up? You need to lead by example.”

“The time to pray and travail is NOW, not later when the heat is on because our ability to stand will come from the sum total of the times we have spent in the presence of God.”

“Israel went after God when they were in the wilderness because they had nothing. (Jeremiah 2:2)” “You may find this hard to believe, but God is definitely going to bring both the church and Israel back to the ‘wilderness days‘ again.”

CHAPTER 4 -Halt the enemy’s activities to accelerate God’s work in the spiritual realm

“It is vital we pray with a prophetic declaration to declare what God Himself has already declared in these end times.”

“We need to do what Ezekiel did -speak directly into the situation (Ezekiel 36). “

“Such is the power of God’s word! Jesus taught His disciples to speak to the mountains, not pray if they want the mountains to shift.” (Matt.17:20)

“We puncture these times of great deception, desertion, depression, darkness, and desolation with God’s spoken words, God’s declarations that are true and right!”

CHAPTER 5 -To know the end we must know the beginning

“We have no excuse of not knowing the end because God has taken the end and hidden it in the beginning!”

“To me, the key that unlocks end times is found in Isaiah which says: Remember the former things of old…there is none like Me; declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things that are not yet done…” (Isa.46:8-10)

“EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED IN THE BOOK OF DANIEL WILL BE REPEATED IN THE END TIMES”

CHAPTER 6 -Intensified suffering means intensified miracles, signs, and wonders

“As Daniel travailed in prayers on earth, angelic activities prevailed in heaven!”

“The ‘open heaven’ coming our way when God’s fullness is experienced is as sure as the coming of the days of tribulation!”

“We must recognize that Daniel symbolizes a corporate group of God’s people who must rise up in these end times to engage themselves in purposeful and relentless prayers.”

“This is why God told us to be a generation of priests -why have we forsaken our destiny? If the church is not a kingdom of priests ministering to God and apprehending His fullness for the nations of the world, what then is the church?”

“Remember, as long as the hands of Moses, representing the prayers of the nation, were lifted up towards heaven, Israel has the upper hand over the Amalekites.”

“To watch and pray means we pray with the word of God into every situation and see all present situations as God sees them. We keep our spiritual antenna up and we are to be alert to present signs and world events.”

“Pray with intensity and pray fervently, which means your spirit, soul, and body must be in agreement.”

CONCLUSION -we are now in the end times

“The end has certainly begun…twenty-four hours a day God’s ears are bombarded by the outcries of sin in the nations of the world but He wants to hear prayers, confessions, supplications but they seem to be getting lesser and lesser.”

“May God…also give you the courage to change and prioritize your time to pray, to be ‘thrown in’ together with this great network of intercessors spanning both heaven and earth.”

“You must heed the final call to fight, to enter into godly travail by praying, pleading, declaring…”

“So many people complain of being lonely…But when we are bonded up with God and threaded together into His prayer network and are aware that prayer has eternal validity, it will rid us of all loneliness.”

HOW DO WE ‘MINISTER TO GOD’ ? by Susan Tang

If we have not ministered to God in our prayers and intercessions, then we have prayed amiss. In any prayer, God and His feelings should be our focus.

Prophecies Of Doom Because Of Compromised Gospel.

A Jewish prophetess uttered some very severe judgments of famine, persecutions and death over Malaysia and mentioned that God is deeply disappointed with the church in our nation because of her compromised gospel and also because He has so few friends here who can minister to Him and with whom He can share His heart with. The most frightening part of her prophecy was when she said that 97 percent of Christians in Malaysia will NOT make it into heaven. (In other words, only 3 percent of Christians are truly saved)

Because of pressing needs and increased fears many churches have learn to rise in prayers and intercession, of which we are truly thankful. Unfortunately, intercessors and watchmen can still pray amiss if we have not ministered to God by (i) making Him the FOCUS of all our prayers and (2) by sharing His pain and heart-brokenness over the conditions that are prevailing both in the church and in the world. How many of us are truly at that quiet place ‘within the veil'  where the resounding of God is undisturbed and is clearly heard and felt ? So often, because we cannot hear and feel what is in the heart of God, we allow self interest, people, etc to become the focus of our prayers instead of God.

God Must Find Expression In His People

Great intercessors like Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, and Paul had their prayers focused on God because they could feel His pain, His yearnings and anguish. As a result they could successfully minister to Him by expressing back to Him what was in His heart. Mature intercessors do more than pray dutifully. Mature intercessors share God’s feelings. They could take His yoke, bear His burden and feel His ‘heart brokenness’ and they minister to Him by sharing His feelings and by expressing these feelings back to Him, because God does want us to express back to Him what is in His heart.

Yes, why couldn’t God hear His own pain and anguish uttered back to Him through us? . Isn’t it our privilege and honor to enter into such participation of pain and suffering with Him who had, Himself participated our human pains and sorrows too? Remember what Paul said about “knowing Him in the fellowship of His sufferings.” (Phllippines 3:10) As the Malaysian church matures, may God hear His own cries, desires, longings, anguish, yearnings and burdens expressed through us because in the final analysis, prayer is indeed God finding expression through human vessels. More over, we are His body, a part of Him.

LIVING THE ANTITHESIS

For the past few years the Lord has been speaking to me about living in a manner that is the 'antithesis' to all that is happening in the church and in the nation. Over the years, as I waited on Him, I heard Him say, " There is darkness in My House. I am now calling those who can hear My voice to live lives that will be the antithesis to all that is happening. Stop your activities; start to pray and to live out that 'antithesis.'”

It was difficult because I had meetings lined up and my itinerant ministry was bringing in much financial blessing. The books and tapes were selling well and people were blessed. The only problem was, I did not have a deep sense of God's reality. I was finding it extremely hard to hear from Him and I did not enjoy the sense of joyful liberation and rest in my spirit that I am experiencing now. God settled my indecision by taking me through the typhoid incident! I was pathetic during that illness but so spiritually enriched after it. After I recovered, I could hear Him better and with His directives, came the explanations. I heard Him say, "Too many want to travel and speak for ministerial and money sake. They have no interest to build into my kingdom but into their own ministry which has no eternal validity. Now, will you obey and live in a manner that is the antithesis to all these?"As I cancelled my itinerant ministry to stay back and spend time to pray, the directives also came to price down my books, to put them on the website for free reading. I was also to sell my house to buy a piece of land and to pioneer a prayer community. Oh, have I been struggling over these directives and decisions for the past two years! No wonder so many of us do not dare to spend time in His presence. Who knows what He will direct us to do next?

The struggles ceased lately as I read Matthew 7:13-14 and Jeremiah 7. In Matthew 7:14, Jesus commanded His disciples to walk the narrow way (or to live in a manner that is antithetical to the popular worldly order) although it was an unpopular choice and 'few there be that find it.' In Jeremiah 7 He convicted me that the deception in the church worldwide had already produced decline and darkness, a darkness which will finally lead to destruction. I then saw the decline of many local pastors and also much confusion in our local church scene as everything climaxes into what Jeremiah described in verse eleven:

"Is this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes. Behold, even I have seen it, saith the Lord."

Not only do we have semi - nudity, gays and lesbians, con-men and women, paedophiles, adulterers, fornicators, pseudo prophets/prophetesses and false apostles defiling the church, we now have an influx of the merchandizing and trading spirit. No wonder God said the final result is that His house will become 'a den of robbers.' As the mercenary and the merchandizing spirit join forces with the present profanity, we will not only rob God of His glory, we will also rob the nation of godly standards or ‘the sense of God,’ and the heathen of their hope and salvation.

Many non-Christians are already disgusted as they could not find the difference between the church and the world.

Pope Benedict called the present culture the ‘culture of death’, and weaved his recent Easter Day message around the contrast between material and spiritual riches an told Christians to undergo a ‘purification of hearts’ so that we can heal a lacerated world. He warned against selfishness, corruption and said that the temptation of worldly riches is ‘the language of the serpent’.

Yes, even the church is now inundated with the ‘culture of death’ and the ‘language of the serpent.’ What, then, is God saying to us? What is His urgent and fresh call at this hour to the church in our nation? Are the prophets and prophetesses in Malaysia hearing Him or are we still prophesying ‘vain things’ and dishing out only favorable personal prophecies? Can we hear God calling men and women to live lives that are the antithesis to the horrible system of greed, materialism and compromise that has defiled the church and the land? Do we hear God calling us back to kingdom life and an apostolic lifestyle? When we do hear, do we then, have the strength to obey? To live a life that is the antithesis to all that is around us is like a fish swimming against the tide. Its strength could break against that onslaught.

Does God know? Yes, He does. This is why He told Israel, “Go on this special diet. Feed on manna (Me) daily. If you do, then you can fight against that order. The journey is indeed too hard for you but you can do it as you feed on Me and let Me infuse you with My life.”

But Israel rejected that special diet. This is why they could not make the journey. Will we let the same happen to us? God knows we can only walk the narrow way and be the antithesis to the defiled, worldly and devilish system if we have an infusion of the life of Jesus. But the church life today is hardly an ‘infusion of His life’; rather, it is an infusion of programs, activities, mental knowledge and great exteriors. If I had not stopped my itinerant ministry and spent time in His presence to hear from Him, and then to have been allowed to see what He showed me, I would not have the strength to carry out His directives. And to many of us these directives seem to be utter foolishness.

Does it seem too much for a single woman pastor who is in her ‘retirement years’ to sell her house and part with her only piece of visible and tangible asset? Yet my disobedience, after the Lord has shown me the rich rewards of my decision, would be worse than total foolishness and wickedness. My heart came to a liberating rest and joy when I could finally agree with what God was saying to me.

“The church must not only pray. She must live her prayers. If the church in Malaysia will not live lives that are the antithesis to all that is around her she will never be able to defeat the powers of darkness in this land; neither will she have the strength to avert My coming judgment.”

The infusion of His strength has helped me to yield, to agree to His directives and to start to live in a manner that will be the ‘antithesis’ to that which is selfish, worldly and devilish. I am doing it not because I m spiritual, wonderful or ‘one step above the rest’. I am doing it as an act of obedience and out of a deep love for God. I am also doing it because I want to ‘stand in the gap’ for many priests and prophets who are unable to come free of the psychic bondage to materialism. I am also doing it as an encouragement to others to follow. The Lord has given me the assurance that there will be many others who will follow as His reality enveloped us for “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power” (Psalm 110:3)

I now know what it means when I pray, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.” God’s kingdom cannot come if His will is not done. The ‘kingdom lifestyle’ is the antithesis to the selfish, worldly and devilish order which the enemy has set up. It is wonderful to give it all to Him instead of allowing an incoming tsunami to sweep it away. Of course many still do not believe that a tsunami will ever hit the Malaysian shore or that Malaysian houses or properties will get swept off. People in Acheh and New Orleans did not think it could happen; nevertheless it did. Did people think that Subang Jaya and Shah Alam would get that badly flooded and that winds of that magnitude can hit the city? It happened and the worse is yet to come.

Is your life, up to this time just a product of an institution (the church) or is it an infusion of the life of Jesus? If it is an infusion of the life of Jesus, then you can come free of the psychic attraction to materialism and the ‘culture of death.’ You can live the ‘kingdom lifestyle’ and not listen to the ‘language of the serpent’. You can speak God’s language, ‘go against the tide’ and live the life that is the ‘antithesis’ to all that is around you so that you can heal the lacerated world … and the church.

Especially at a time like this – oh, how we need to get into the spirit of prayers and pleadings, how we need to have the Father Himself pour upon us the spirit of supplication from above. ( Zech 12:10)  Do not burn for ministry (that’s why people burn out) but burn for God. As you  burn for Him, He will  take you into a lot of places you do not want to go and also do a lot of things you do not want to do;  but as you submit to Him and go and do them as obeying Him,  there will be a  great sense of  fulfillment and joy. Joy and fulfillment is always  the  by product of obedience.

 That’s what Jesus meant when He said that His meat is to do the will of God. Meat is satisfying and it ‘substantiate’ our diet. Doing  God’s will, will indeed  ‘substantiate’  and  satisfy us. Remember Jesus  told  Peter  that when he (Peter) matured in the Lord, Peter will have to stretch out his hand and  be led ‘by another’  to do the things he did not want to do. Have you learned to be led ‘by another?’  The  ‘another’  is the Lord Himself  who come to test our spiritual  maturity by leading us into places  we do not want to go and doing the things which we do not like to do Like Peter, we must learn to submit..............

The quiet labor of prayers, of  watching and ministering to God had yielded much fruits, both in the church and school. The Lord had also  directed me to write two very timely books on the end times entitled,  “LIVING BETWEEN THE SEALS”  AND “MIDNIGHT PRAYERS.”  This book “ LIVING BETWEEN THE SEALS” had already been translated in India into  Tamil. Persecutions of  Christians in India  had been very  intense lately and God’s timing to have this book printed in Tamil is just  perfect.



Many had turned up for the training of WATCHMEN AND INTERCESSORS  in the first week since we initiated the training about two and a half years ago, but many did not  stay back for the follow up teaching of THE DEALINGS OF GOD AND INNER HEALING AND DELIVERANCE in the second week of school. Honestly, you  have almost missed the ‘CRUX’  of the school ! The lessons of the first week is merely to prepare you for the SECOND WEEK OF MORE INTENSE DEALINGS AND TEACHINGS FROM GOD  AND IN - DEPTH MINISTRY.

If we want to operate as priests, watchmen or intercessors, we have to know what are the dealings of God in our lives; we have to  be healed of deep inner hurts and come free of unclean spirits and familiar demons from the ancestry line.  The main  reason why people cannot prevail  in the presence of God,  cannot  understand the scriptures they read, cannot  hear from God is because of they have not been dislodged of such spirits. Many intercessors and watchmen hear from familiar spirits and have weird manifestations and leadings because they have not been thoroughly cleansed. I have seen many intercessors bring damage to individuals, churches and ministries because they mistook the spirit of clairvoyance  for the voice of the Holy Spirit. It is dangerous to build any  intercessory ministry when we have no corporate body to pray with us, or  have nobody to pray for us or when we become unaccountable to anyone.

Ministry of INNER HEALING AND DELIVERANCE is done very differently in the school – this is why crowds are not accepted – we minister as we teach. Deliverance and inner healing OCCURRED AND IS ACTIVELY WORKED INTO THE STUDENTS DURING CLASS TIME by the sharp word of God, who ‘discover’ sins and administer healing. The anointing is strong as we seek God corporately. Often, when a rebuke is given in general, spirits will surface as the Spirit of God moved actively in the anointed surroundings. God declared that “the anointing breaks the yoke,” and it happens here often in the classroom. The testimonies from pastors and lay leaders had been overwhelming. They had told us to keep their stories confidential, so we honor their requests and did not put in their testimonies.

Do not forget, as you apply for the 1st week of SOL WATCHMAN,   consider  the 2nd week too. Actually, the 1st week  of  the school is basically for the alumni and for those who could not take leave. To set aside two weeks for the change of a lifetime is SO LITTLE!  Many alumni return because  they want deeper impact. Beyond my wildest dream, God had truly turned this insignificant insecure town into the safest place,   by transforming it into the  ‘ ENHAKKORE’  or  “Spring of the Caller”  of  Judges 15:19.  Many who are thirsty,( nigh to death like Samson,) had come to  drink and be refreshed again to serve,( like Samson) for another twenty years! See you at the school!

Consciousness of Priesthood in this nation

We have decided to turn SOL, a 3-week school into just a 14-day school to train WATCHMEN AND INTERCESSORS for the nations. We have heard God’s mandate to raise up watchmen and intercessors and to bring the church back into the consciousness of priesthood – which is, in fact our first calling.

“... let yourselves be built, as living stones, into a spiritual temple; become a holy priesthood.” 1 Peter 2:5

Priesthood (waiting, watching in God’s presence with prayers and intercessions) is indeed one of the most lamentable lack in modern day Christianity – this is why the powers of darkness have prevailed and gone unchallenged as they destroyed nations after nations and cities after cities. Indeed, mankind languish for the lack of priests – for today, we can hardly find them in our churches, families, societies and our nations. Today, there seems to be a concentrated conspiracy in contemporary Christianity to drive the consciousness of priesthood far from the church

We cannot patrol our nation or bring God’s presence to where we are by our fleshly church programs, carnal activities of multimedia displays, sensual concerts, sound and noise – we have to discipline ourselves into priesthood. We must learn to pray and touch God. Many are aware that the economy have collapsed but many do not know that the economy is only one of the 6 devastating elements that make up this coming devastating global storm. Look at the six deadly components now.

• Collapsing economy
• Wide spread wars
• Violent politics
• Sudden geophysical attacks
• Dark religion (deception)
• Rise of incurable sicknesses and diseases

The worse on this list is dark religion which actually means deception or polluted Christianity.( fables, doctrines of devils, heresies, unsound doctrines of men) Our Lord warned His disciples that deception is the first sign of the end times and that they should beware of it.. (Matt. 24) These words have fallen onto deaf ears – this is why heresies, fables, unsound doctrines and the spirit of harlotry have entered into our churches today, causing the precious ‘gold to become dim’ and turning God’s precious stones of the temple ‘to be poured out onto the streets’ as cheap and common stones with no value.

Yes, the mark of distinction in the church today is indeed dim. She had indeed been cheapen and is no longer uncommon or distinct as God wanted her to be because she had lost her valuable royal priesthood. When we cease to exist as priests before God, we ceased in value, in meaning, in fulfillment – in everything.

Under such dark circumstances of wide spread wars, violent politics, collapsing economy, rise of geophysical attacks and sicknesses, we know many people will want to seek God. Hardened hearts may soften a little. But when they do walk into our churches will they truly find God? Or will they find dark religion or the polluted gospel of prosperity and merchandising? Will there be true worship or just pagan music, fanciful programs and fleshly activities led by semi-clad worshippers? Will they find the preaching of God’s word in our churches or will they find some hollow-out, motivational and feel-good messages? Will they find man of God, true priests behind the pulpit or just charlatan-preachers with body piercing, tattoos and gaudy printed tee shirts with skulls and dragons?

In America, David Wilkerson had just unleashed a powerful prophetic word that there will be an earth shattering calamity soon. It is so horrible that even the godliest of men would tremble. What is it? The work of terrorists. Yes, God is going to use the bombs and fires of terrorists ‘as a rod ‘to deal with His church, just like He used the Babylonians to deal with the nation of Israel when they lost their distinction and broke all the landmarks He had set for them. Wilkerson prophesied that this will start in America but it will spread into other part of the world. Who can have peace and safety in days like these? Those who pray and those who had not forsaken their God-appointed priesthood.

Ezekiel 9 thrusts us into a scene in heaven where God ordered five death angels to slaughter everyone in the city of Jerusalem. Even babies were not spared. (Had the tsunamis, earthquakes, diseases etc. spared babies?) Before unleashing this horrific judgment, the merciless slaughter of young and old, God ordered the marking or the sealing of all the faithful watchmen, intercessors or priests in the land – those who had ‘sigh and cry’ over the sins of the land. These men or women with ‘marked foreheads’ were spared the blow from the death angels.

Five death angels were send out to destroy lives and only one were send out to mark the foreheads of those worthy to be spared. The death angels took a long time to do their work while the angel of life did a quick work – meaning there were many heads to kill but not very many heads to mark for protection.

We want to do God’s mandate – to help our churches return to the consciousness of priesthood in this nation. We want to patrol our nation – we can only do this as we serve as watchmen and intercessors and minister to God. If you too, have this desire, then come and pray, watch and wait along with us in this 8 days. Be brave enough to change the system of busyness, of noise, sound, of being driven, of running, hyping, performing. Instead come away from it for awhile, settle into God’s love and let your deep cry be as the Shulamite bride in the Song of Songs, “Draw me away! We will run after You! (not after success) We will be glad and rejoice in You.”

Wear The Three Marks of a Man of God! - Part 4 of 4

The road to success for a man of God was mapped out by Paul when he penned these forceful words to Timothy, "O man of God, flee, follow and fight" (1 Timothy 6:11-13). A man of God! What a dignified and distinguished title. Paul said that such men will be marked by these three distinct characteristics:

(i) Flee! This word, 'phlego' means 'to run away from something with terror in your heart.' A man of God knows how to run away from evil with terror in his heart, the way Joseph fled from Popithar's evil and seductive wife. Joseph's story reminds us that sin is both violent and tenacious. There are times we need to stay and pray but there are times when we need to flee because this is the only way to be safe!

Joseph taught us that saying 'no' to sin verbally is not enough; there are times we have to get out of that situation because of the nature of sin. It is both violent and tenacious. Most anointed priests succumbed to sin because they did not flee in the first place. In fact, we are told to flee from the mere appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22). Since our anointing does not annul our humanity and our vulnerability, we must know how to protect ourselves by living with our spiritual antenna held high. Whenever something appears to be evil, we must run from it with terror in our heart in order to save our souls! (1 John 5:18).

(ii) Follow. This word 'follow' means to pursue relentlessly. A man of God is always marked out by what he pursues. It is sad to see so many prophets and priests not hungering and thirsting for things that will enrich their souls and deepen their relationship with God and not placing their values on things of spiritual and eternal worth. A man of God must truly pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience and meekness. Then there will be fewer cases of sexual promiscuity in the priesthood. The appalling statistics of moral failures tell a sad, sad tale - priests are no longer pursuing what they should pursue. Like prophets and priests in the days of Jeremiah, many have gone after excesses and extortion. They live for materialistic rewards and worldly gains.

(iii) Fight. If we have first learnt to flee and to follow, we need not have to end up fighting all the time. We don't have to keep repeating, "I rebuke you, I cast you out, I curse you, kick you, slap you, etc." everyday! Evil cannot lodge within us so easily when God has put holiness within us. This is how powerful the Christ life can be in us. We may come into contact with evil daily yet we do not have to be connected with them. Jesus had constant contact with evil but He was never connected to it. Prophets and priests fall because they have not chosen to flee, to pursue things of spiritual value and finally, when they are ensnared by evil, they realize they have, like Samson, lost every ounce of their strength to fight. They want to fight and to end the illicit affair, but alas, they discover they have no inner strength to do so. Often they carry on until the affair is discovered by someone else. I have heard this sad, sad story too many times.

Too many prophets and priests have cultivated ungodly and deadly habits and tendencies. They run along with the wrong company, spend hours in front of the TV and Internet and get addicted to unhealthy and violent films, obscene pictures and pornography. We cannot nurture such appetites and then turn to the Bible and expect revelation knowledge to flow. Neither can we expect God to give us the victory over evil when we are running empty on the inside. This will never be.

As you rebuild your life, you will also need to restructure, realign and re-learn. Remember there is efficacy and complete sufficiency in the blood and the resurrection power of Jesus Christ to take you through the process. Our prayers go with you. May the God who restored David greatly do the same for you.

Your Anointing Will Not Annul Your Humanity - Part 3 of 4

God's power in our lives will certainly work to make us more like Jesus, but not less human. You may be anointed, but you still have hormones, eyes and ears. This means you are not immune to temptation. You can still be attracted to another woman or man even though you can cast out devils, heal the sick and raise the dead. Even Jesus was tempted sexually but He did not give in. Temptation is painful. This is why the scriptures says, "He himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour (lift up) them that are tempted" (Hebrews 2:18).

When Jesus was fitted into a human body, He had a mind like ours - a mind prone to take its own ungodly mental excursions. It also means He had emotions like ours. He could feel as any human being feels - depression, fear, anxiety, meanness, resentment, hatred or revenge but He did not give in to these feelings. It also means His physical body was also impacted with muscles, hormones and appetites just like us. Yes, Jesus as the Son of Man, was, in "all points (mentally, emotionally, socially, sexually etc) tempted like as we all, yet without sin." If He had not subjected Himself to every human temptation, then He cannot be our merciful and faithful high priest (Hebrews 2:17-18, 4:15).

He was called the "Son of Man" because of His humanity, a humanity from which He did not hide. He was never unreal when He was on earth. He opened blind eyes, cleansed the lepers, multiplied loaves and fishes and raised the dead but in the garden of Gethsemane, He bared His soul to His disciples. He told them that He was going through some things that He could not go through alone, so He asked for their support and their prayers. That was being human and real.

When He was overwhelmed by grief, He was not afraid to cry, even in public. When He was angry He was not afraid to express it by overturning the tables of the money changers. When He became disgusted at the hypocrisy of the religious leaders, He proceeded to rebuke them with strong language and scathing remarks. He enjoyed Himself at social gatherings and He interacted well with children, women and men.

He was invigorated by sweet smelling perfume as it was poured over His head. He also believed in taking a 'break.' He told His disciples to "come apart and rest awhile." He definitely did not believe in "working till you drop." He believed in taking 'snacks' between preaching, if it was necessary. When He felt the people were hungry, He stopped His discourse and told His disciples to give the people something to eat. He also believed in eating a good breakfast! Even in His resurrected body, He dirtied His hands by cleaning fish and collecting firewood to cook breakfast for His disciples

The humanness of the apostle Paul could be seen in some of his epistles, especially in his letter to Timothy. He expressed his loneliness and his need for human companionship and comfort (2 Timothy 4). This anointed man of God was so disappointed when Titus did not catch up with him in Troas that he decided not to preach there (2 Corinthians 2:12-13). He was anointed but at Troas, he needed more than the anointing; he needed human succour.

Paul was very real with his own feelings when he confessed that he was "troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears" and that God comforted him by "the coming of Titus." God did not comfort him by giving him more revelations and visions but by the coming of a trusted friend. Yes, however strong we are, there are times when we need someone to whom we can open up to and someone who can pray with us. To the Corinthians, he was bold enough to say, " Who is weak and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?" He was indirectly saying, "I am still a human being like you all, subjected to the same passions." When one is secure in the anointing, one is also real. There is no need to hide behind unreality.

Many anointed priests fell because they thought their anointing had cancelled their humanity and had made them invincible and infallible. They thought they could stay independent of human support and they denied they had temptations. They thought they were immune to their seductive secretaries, scantily clad church women or the lustful people they ministered to. Unhealthy denials, false 'bravado' and self-delusion caused their fall. They failed to flee from evil until evil had them ensnared.

When we know we are vulnerable, then we must learn to flee, not just from evil, but from the MERE APPEARANCE of evil! This has always been the biblical stand (1 Thessalonians 5:22).

Minister Out of a Strong Inner Life - Part 2 of 4

Most ministers today do not minister out of a strong inner life. Image is more important to them. Many of them have worked hard to rise to the height of influence, privilege and glory. But they have forgotten that there are dangers lurking on those heights, and that they need to guard their lives with the strictest vigilance.

The indictment given by God to the prophets of Israel in the days of Jeremiah was that they had separated their ministry from their relationship with Him. God charged that they had not stood in His council to see, to hear and to listen to His word before they went ahead to minister (Jeremiah 23:18). As a result, they had no fresh word from God. Instead they borrowed one another's visions, dreams, fleshly prophecies and words and ended up as the "blind leading the blind."

If prophets and priests have no capacity for God, then where does this leave our people? How can we take them further and deeper? If spiritual leaders were to sever their relationship (with God) from ministry, then not only will they be easy targets for marauding demons of lusts and deception, but where will they draw their strength from?

It is a lie to believe that when we have Jesus we have an inexhaustible supply. No, the truth is: when we have Jesus we have ACCESS to the inexhaustible supply and the accessing must be made frequently and unceasingly. The apostle Paul talked about "prayers and the supply of God's spirit" (Philippians 1:19, 2 Corinthians 1:11). Prayer will keep our spirits supplied with God's spirit and strength. If we do not connect with Him through prayers, the supply will be cut off. Life is too full of complications and complexities, and the only way to unravel the complications and the complexities is to come into the presence of God so that the deep subtleties of our own hearts can be exposed.

Spiritual intimacy or prevailing in God's presence will unravel the complications and put all deceitfulness, deception, strife and painful complexities to rest. (Please read my book on SPIRITUAL INTIMACY.) To do spiritual work without connecting with God is utter foolishness and the sure result is failure. This explains why there have been so many moral failures among the priesthood in the last two decades.

Ministry is about fighting wicked spirits, not flesh and blood. The only thing that can help you withstand these vicious attacks is your strong inner life. Many priests are not aware that they had "picked up spirits" in the process of their ministry. Demons of uncleanness, lusts, hurts, anger, sickness and death can follow you and then call for a full attack when you are not conscious of it. You may say that this is not possible because God promises that "greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world." Well, how great have you allowed Him to be in you? Can God rise great in you when you do not connect with Him? Instead of walking in His light, you walk in your own selfish will. No, God cannot rise greatly in us when we daily make the choice to let self rise higher.

Demons are not afraid of our great and fanciful exteriors. They only understand the language of force which comes in the name of Jesus through a strong inner man. A strong spirit or a strong inner life is the only thing that can succour you or help you "lift up the standard" against the flood waters of the enemy. The Bible tells us: "The spirit of a man will sustain (hold up) his infirmity but a wounded spirit (injured or weak inner man) who can bear?" (Proverbs 18:14). What a tragedy that today's priests and prophets spend their time building into the outward (ministry, building, reputation etc) but not into their inward or inner man or into their relationship with God.

When King David requested God to "build the walls of Jerusalem" (Psalm 51:18) in his penitent prayer, he was acknowledging that his inner walls had collapsed. This was why sin and temptation could take hold of him so easily and he could live in it for years before God Himself apprehended him. David's outward moral walls fell because he had not been building into his inward spiritual walls. He was so intoxicated with success, prosperity and position that he became spiritually incapacitated. Honour can be too much sometimes for some people. David had allowed success to breed complacency and laxity into his life, so much so that he became insensitive to the timing of God in his life. When the time came for war, he refused to go to war. While every man in his kingdom went to do his duty, he became 'un-dutiful' and he absconded. He lingered behind, became restless, walked about aimlessly, saw Bathsheba and fell into sin with her.

Oh, that God will bring us back to His ancient ways to re-lay the right foundation. We have deviated and we have swerved. We have pushed back God's ancient stones and strayed from His ancient ways to concentrate on the wrong thing. We have drunk from only broken man-made cisterns and attended too many seminars that challenged us to build for God, build for God and build more for God. But when will we ever learn to let God build into us? Many prophets and priests fall because they are too busy building for God but have never allowed God to go beyond the scaffolding of their lives to build into their inner man.

In "CLOSING THE GAP", I wrote the following paragraph,

"Let God work into you and build into you because the only thing we can take with us into heaven is what He has built into us. The apostle John learned this lesson when he was taken up to a high mountain by an angel. The angel wanted to show him the Lamb's Bride (Rev. 21:9-10). On reaching the top of the mountain, he saw, to his surprise, not a bride, but a glorious and heavenly city - the city of Jerusalem! The bride had become a city! A city built by God! God is telling us that every redeemed life has to become a city, a city built by God. Are you a city built by Him? If we are not, then nothing in us will be of lasting value and worth (page 72, "CLOSING THE GAP" by Susan Tang).

Burn for God and Not for Ministry - Part 1 of 4

So many today are burning for ministry and not for God. Burning for ministry is actually indirectly burning for self and living for selfish gains. So much has been stressed about building our ministry, our church and our gifting but not our relationship with God. The undiscerning will think that burning for ministry is being zealous for God. No, it is not. True zeal for God will always consume or corrode self. We know this because both David and Jesus confessed that their zeal for God had burned up the self in them. That is the meaning of "The zeal of thine house (for God) hath eaten me up."

The manifestation of the burning for self within the Body of Christ is frightening today. This is the reason why so many have burned out, fallen out or have been taken out of the ministry. God's promise is, "He that doeth the will of God abideth forever" (1 John 2:17). Many have claimed that they are doing the will of God, but where are they today? They have lost the abiding, and have vanished into thin air.

When we burn for God, He becomes the focus and the purpose of our life. But when we have a zeal that burns so much for ministry until it has no time for God, then it is a zeal that is totally unrelated to or estranged from God. It is a zeal in which the vital element of self denial is absent. It is counterfeit fire. Counterfeit fire is fire that is not taken from the altar of burnt sacrifice. (Burnt sacrifice always means self denial or death.) Nadab and Abihu died because they offered to God a fire of their own kindling. Instead of taking fire from the altar of burnt sacrifice which fire originally came from heaven and was deposited at that sacred altar, they offered to God defiled fire. Many anointed priests today 'died' early because they offered to God fleshly and defiled fire.

When we burn for God we will make time to connect with Him. Unfortunately, today's prophets and priests have lost the joy of wanting to go into the private chamber behind closed doors for communion with God. Living the hidden life has also become an unknown experience to so many. The more we live for the 'greater,' the more we should retreat from the public and build up our inner life. Most things done in the public today are not aimed to please Him, but are done to secure the admiration of man and for self display.

Drawing near to God is the highest human experience because it requires the help of the Holy Spirit and demands the exercise of all our highest faculties. Unfortunately, most prophets and priests have lost it. They are so busy burning for self that they have prostituted even the soul's greatest privilege of having communion with God. We are living in difficult days. The advent of globalization and the new world culture have ushered in godless days and living on the anointing upon us is not enough. We have to live by the anointing within. We have to draw from that inward Spring and that indwelling Presence by making the contact daily and unhurriedly.

In the days of Noah, when God flooded the earth to destroy the wicked, the waters did not only fall from above. The waters that fell 'upon the earth' from above were not sufficient to cause the deluge. It was the water that came from within the springs of the earth that was really powerful. The earth was flooded out by water that came from two sources - above and within.

"The same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened" (Genesis 7:11).

Many priests and prophets have failed because they only lived by water (or the anointing) that came upon them. They did not know how to draw from the water that came from the springs of the deep (the anointing within).

They could not draw from the Fountain within because they were too busy - busy connecting with the outward ostentatious things that have no spiritual value or eternal validity. Time is spent to connect with the 'accessories' but not with solid reality. We have failed to understand that ministry is taking the Lord's yoke and bearing His burdens. His yoke and His burden are light - not stressful, not vexing, not competitive, not vain and definitely not oppressive.

When ministry gets to the point when we feel vexed, heavy, vain, competitive, and we cannot connect with Him, then we have missed it. We are NOT taking His yoke and bearing His burden, (we are taking our own yoke and bearing our own burdens), and we are not burning for Him but for self. The fire we burn is called 'strange fire' and it is the equivalent of what Nadab and Abihu offered before God (Leviticus 10:1-3). It is not hard to tell that this is the fire of our own kindling because such fire always burns out our appetite for God, burn out the joy of contemplative prayers and the meditation of the Word.

When Mary and Joseph, the earthly parents of Jesus, discovered their loss - that Jesus was missing from their midst, they immediately stopped their journey and went back to Jerusalem to 'retrieve' Him before they journeyed on. They refused to take the journey until the 'substance' came back. May you do the same. You have burned for ministry and have been burned out. When Delilah came, you could not stand up against her because you had lost all your strength by allowing her to shave off all your hair. Thank God that hair can grow back! Samson's story had a happy ending. May yours too be the same.

May you now learn to burn for God. When you do, you will not burn out or fall out. Hear the voice of your Saviour inviting you to learn from Him, take from Him and bear His burden.

ADDING VALUE TO THE LAND by Rev Susan Tang

When I came home to Lahad Datu after an itinerant ministry in November 2002, I contracted typhoid. It turned out to be more than just a physical illness and plunged me into spiritual warfare. After that experience, I developed a greater spiritual capacity to hear from the Lord. There was greater clarity and accuracy. No wonder the psalmist David exclaimed, "You enlarged me when I was in distress."

After my recovery, I knew I wasn't to travel. I had to stay back in this lowly and dusty town to continue to pray for directions for my own ministry and for the nation. The Lord directed me to write a series of books, one of which connected me to Art Katz, the 77-year-old Jewish prophet who was here with us. To have this aged Jewish prophet impact our nation and come (of all places) to Lahad Datu was a sign to the nation. What sign? I echo what Ps. Jean Lim said, "How awesome. Malaysia is so small yet God has send us this Jewish prophet.” Yes, God did so because there is hope for or land. (Read GOD’S STRATEGIES BOOK 5 )

The recent events of sudden floods, howling winds and uprooted trees in Shah Alarm and Subang Jaya are neither accidents nor the wrath of nature. God was speaking to our nation. We have been warned that Malaysia will not be spared from tsunamis and earthquakes. Are we hearing? Who can escape when God is shaking the foundations of the earth?

I am in Lahad Datu (East Malaysia), a place that is far removed from the epicenter of earthquakes. Yet in 6 months, we have had 4 earthquakes less than a thousand kilometers from us. The last one was so bad, many in town felt the tremors. As I consistently pray for Malaysia to be spared of God's judgment, I keep hearing this inner voice, " Why should God spare Malaysia? Is Malaysia worth it? Are there people here in this nation who will add value to the land?"

In the days of Israel's impending judgment, God asked this same question. Are there people who will add value to the land ? The land that has been so devalued, defiled and desecrated by sin that it has affected even nature's order (Jeremiah 2:7, Isaiah 24:5,20)? In Israel's dark days, God was desperately looking for people whose prayers and living would form a barricade against His judgment so that the land could be spared, but unfortunately He found none. He was looking for devoted watchmen whose lives would be the antithesis of all that was going on in the world, but He found none. There were many (including prophets and priests) that devalued the land, but none that would add value to it. Finally and sadly, God's judgment came, unabated and unhindered, upon the nation.

None? How could it be that there were no people to add value to the land? Just like it is today, Israel had plenty of religious leaders and 'prophetic voices,' but none of these were praying men or men whose living was the antithesis of how the world was living. Instead of adding value to the land, these spiritually blind and covetous leaders were leading others into devaluing the land by their greed, their sensual yearnings, blasphemous assumptions and vain prophecies. In fact, the religious leaders were the perpetrators.

Israel's prophets were men's (and 'money') prophets, not God's prophets. Many of them, like today, had given themselves over to both the mercenary and the merchandising (trading and selling) spirit. They were moved by soul power, a powerful gift of clairvoyance and dark wisdom. Most of them finally confessed, under God's ultimate judgment and ultimate light, that they did not have any prophetic gifts and were 'schooled in lusts in the days of their boyhood' (NEB in Zechariah 13:5). As a result they had no fresh word from the throne room and all they could prophesy was 'peace and prosperity,' something copied from the mouths of other flesh prophets. They could not see the impending judgment around the corner.

God challenged those prophets. If they were truly prophets then let them intercede for the land so that the remaining vessels in the land would not go into captivity (Jeremiah 27:18) Unfortunately the vessels did go into Babylonian captivity - a sad testimony and indictment that these men were not God's prophets and that they had no interceding or prevailing power before God.

Why did God issue such a challenge to the 'prophets' of Israel? Because the quintessence of a prophet is intercession. True prophets take intercession seriously because they can see what God sees, hear what God hears and feel what God feels. God gives His prophets this ability to see, hear and feel like He does so that they will be able to pray and 'make up the hedge' and 'stand in the gap' for the land. A prophet's job is to bring God to men and bring men to God - he is not to be entangled in the affairs of this world. This is why true prophets, like Samuel, Moses and David, have the ability to avert God's judgment, check ungodly invasions of the land and keep hostile forces away so that "the vessels of the Lord be not taken away into captivity."

Money prophets cannot pray. 'Flesh' prophets cannot hear from within the veil. God had declared that He will not let these flesh prophets get close to Him – a terrible indictment against them.

To be able to prophesy, write books and make a lot of money, have our calendars full of preaching dates, or ‘jet-set’ around the world to tell grandiose stories and have an audience ‘eating out of our hands,’ etc. but unable to get close to God and prevail in His presence is indeed a terrible form of judgment. ( Ezekiel 44:13)

This is why so many prophets have to live on 'borrowed visions' and 'copied prophecies'. It is sad that Israel, at the time of her greatest need, had no true or praying prophet who could add value to their land and to prevail against those dark invading forces.

God's deep hurt and disappointment were revealed in Ezekiel 22:20 when He said that He could not find someone who was willing, by their prayers and living, to 'make up the hedge' and 'stand in the gap' for that land. In other words, He was saying He could not find someone who was willing to add value to the land so that, in spite of its defilement, He would not have to destroy it.

I have chosen to quote all scriptures from the NEW ENGLISH BIBLE because its translation is precise and updated. The words strike right into our hearts. May you feel the hurt in God's heart and discern the disappointment in His voice when He says:

"I looked for a man among them who could build up a barricade, who could stand before me in the breach to defend the land from ruin; but I found no such man. (therefore) I poured out my judgment upon them and utterly destroyed them in the fire of my wrath." (Eze.22:30-3NEB)

"If they are prophets, and if they have the word of the Lord, let them intercede with the Lord of Hosts, to grant that the vessels still left in the Lord's house, in the royal place, and in Jerusalem, may not be carried off to Babylon." (Jeremiah 27:18NEB)

God knew that sin will not only desecrate and defile a land, it will also devalue it. It will cause Him to turn away from it and it will ultimately open the door for demonic invasion. Look at what God says in these verses:

"Earth itself is desecrated by the feet of those who live in it because (i) they have broken the laws,(ii) disobeyed the statutes and (iii) violated the eternal covenant." (Isaiah 24:5NEB)

"The earth reels to and fro like a drunken man and sways like a watchmen's shelter; (because) the sins of men weigh heavy upon it." (Isaiah 24:20 NEB)

"I brought you into a fruitful land to enjoy its fruit and the goodness of it; but when you entered upon it, you defiled it (with your sins) and made the home I gave you loathsome." (Jeremiah2:7)

"Your wrong doing has upset nature's order and your sins have kept from you nature's kindly gifts." (Jeremiah 5:25 NEB)

Men's sins upsetting nature's order! Now you know why all of a sudden, nature is convulsing and spewing up tsunamis everywhere. Why? Because men, by their sins, have upset nature. Luke 21:32 reads like this in the NEW ENGLISH BIBLE:

"On earth nations will stand helpless, not knowing which way to turn from the roar and surge of the sea (tsunamis,) men will faint with terror at the thought of all that is coming upon the world."

The prophet Samuel lived to add value to his land. He gave himself totally to serious intercession and focused prayers. The value of his life and intercession could be found in these recorded verses:

"The hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel."(I Sam.7:13)

Isn't this powerful living? Samuel's uncompromising and righteous life was the 'governing power' for his nation. He was able to restrain wicked spirits from attacking Israel by his perpetual prayers and sacrifices, thus saving thousands from destruction. As long as he was alive (and praying) the Philistines (demonic forces) could not invade Israel. They might have been menacing, threatening, intimidating and they outnumbered Israel, BUT THEY COULD NOT BREAK THROUGH into the land because the prayers of Samuel held them back.

Samuel added value to a land that was made valueless by the sins of the people. What a powerful life - what a way to live! It was a life hidden from the sight of man but exposed to the principalities and powers - they knew him and feared his prayers. It was a quiet life on earth but a 'loud' life in the heavens. It was a life of obscurity but it was a life with deep spiritual worth and eternal validity.

Samuel's prayers were powerful because of the life he lived. He lived so powerfully that at the end of his service, he called on men and God to judge his moral behavior. He called on men to witness against his outward actions and God to investigate his inward motives. (I Sam.12:3-4). His life was greedless and blameless - how many of us can say this of ourselves? God took this prophet the moment he was weaned from his mother's breast so that He could 'school' Samuel Himself before he landed into the hands of men who would most probably have had him 'schooled in lusts in the days of his boyhood.'

This man's life had prevailing power because it was an antithesis to all that was around him. Prayers are not powerful because of what we say but because of the way we live. It is important that watchmen and intercessors know that it is not their words nor the time sent in prayers that is valuable. The life lived by the one who pray matters the most. The devil fled when Jesus quoted scriptures at him because the devil knew that Jesus did not just quote those scriptures, He lived them. The Pharisees and scribes merely taught them. They could not defeat the powers of darkness or expose any false values because these inflated religious leaders lived in these very things.

Does Malaysia, at this hour of universal darkness and global chaos, have people to add value to the land? Are there spiritual leaders here whose lives will be the antithesis of all that is in the world and find glory in the foolishness of the cross which is actually the wisdom of God?

"God, we need Your ultimate light and your ultimate strength in order to live the life that will be the antithesis of all that is false and carnal, of all that is in the world and the church today, so that we can add value to our land."
